At Lisa J. McDonald, DMD & Associates, we are committed to providing innovative solutions for our patients’ health concerns. We are pleased to offer Vivos Therapy, a cutting-edge, non-surgical treatment designed to address the root causes of obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) and other sleep-disordered breathing issues.
Understanding Vivos Therapy
Vivos Therapy is a multidisciplinary treatment approach that utilizes custom-designed oral appliances to promote proper development of the jaw and airway structures. By addressing underlying anatomical deficiencies, Vivos Therapy aims to improve airflow, reduce or eliminate OSA symptoms, and enhance overall health. This therapy is suitable for patients with mild, moderate, and even severe OSA.
How Vivos Therapy Works
The treatment involves the use of specialized oral appliances, such as the Daytime-Nighttime Appliance (DNA) system. These devices are worn primarily during sleep and apply gentle, consistent pressure to stimulate the expansion and remodeling of the upper jaw and airway. Over time, this leads to a more open airway, reducing the collapsibility that causes sleep apnea events. The average treatment duration ranges from 12 to 24 months, depending on individual needs.
