Dental Implants

Complete Health & Wellness For All

At Lisa J. McDonald, DMD & Associates, we offer dental implants as a durable, long-term solution for missing teeth. Whether you need to replace a single tooth, multiple teeth, or secure dentures, implants provide a strong, natural-looking restoration that enhances both function and aesthetics. Unlike removable dentures or bridges, implants are permanently fixed in the jaw, offering superior stability, comfort, and durability.

What Are Dental Implants?

A dental implant consists of a titanium post surgically placed into the jawbone to function as an artificial tooth root. Once the implant integrates with the bone, a custom crown, bridge, or denture is attached to restore the tooth’s natural function and appearance.

Benefits of Dental Implants

  • Replace one or more missing teeth without affecting adjacent teeth
  • Prevent bone loss by stimulating natural bone growth
  • Restore proper chewing, digestion, and speech
  • Enhance facial structure by preventing the sunken appearance caused by missing teeth
  • Provide secure support for bridges or dentures, eliminating slipping and discomfort

The Dental Implant Process

    • Consultation & Planning: X-rays and impressions are taken to evaluate bone density and spacing for implant placement.

    • Surgical Placement: The titanium implant is surgically inserted into the jawbone and left to heal for several months, allowing for osseointegration (bone fusion).

    • Abutment Placement: Once the implant has integrated, a connector (abutment) is placed to support the final restoration.

    • Final Restoration: A custom-made crown, bridge, or denture is attached to the abutment, completing the restoration.

Are Dental Implants Right for You?

Ideal candidates for implants should have healthy gums, sufficient bone density, and good oral hygiene. Patients with bone loss may require bone grafting to support the implant.

With proper care, dental implants can last a lifetime, making them the gold standard for tooth replacement. Schedule a consultation today to see if implants are the right option for you.
